Fundraisers

Every year, we as a club have multiple general and individual fundraisers to help offset the cost of general administration and competetion fees.

The club is in desperate need of chairs and volunteers for fundraisers (see fundraiser below)! Many people ask the same questions again and again... Why should I participate in general fundraisers? How do I see the benefit of general fundraisers? We get comments like: "My child never sees that money!" or "I would rather work on individual fundraisers that help my kid!"

Please let me explain the answer to these questions and the reply to these statements!

General Fundraisers are ESSENTIAL to your child! When my daughter began at the gym almost 6 years ago my required contribution to the national and admin funds was about $200/$250. Because in the last few years we have had some fantastic parents put together some great general fundraisers, the last few years this amount has been reduced to $75 for compulsory families! Your child does see the benefit of these general fundraisers. Many people just don't realize the difference the fundraisers make. Imagine the possibilities if we all got on board and pulled together to make these general fundraisers a much bigger success!

We have had several new and fantastic fundraising ideas presented to us, but without everyone's help we will have to let these go and also let go of some of those fundraisers we have been doing that have reduced the admin/national fund over the last several years. No one wants to see these amounts go back up in cost!

In the last year we have lost several gymnasts due to financial circumstances, so consider those gymnasts as well. Maybe you would rather pay the extra money in your assessment than have to work a pancake breakfast one Saturday morning. But we ask you to consider the gymnasts who can't make that choice. These days most of us would like to save the $200 than spend it.

Part of being a member of a booster club and further more a team is to support one another and support our kids in order to further their dreams. We can't think about the individual fundraisers alone! We have to consider the fundraisers that support your entire team and by doing so you also support your child inadvertently! Think about also the example it sets for our kids and how to volunteer!

Also- if we do not provide enough general fundraisers we will lose our non-profit status and will not be able to provide the fundraisers and support to all of our gymnasts that everyone has grown to enjoy!
